Remulla expects 10 ‘persons of interest’ in
Percy Lapid killing in government custody
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) are investigating the murder of broadcaster Percival Mabasa.
As of October 26, up to seven persons of interest in the killing are in government custody, according to Department of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla.
These individuals are comprised of three persons with the PNP and four with the NBI.
Among those in custody are inmates allegedly linked to the killing, including Christopher Bacoto and Jose Palana Villamor, who were identified by self-confessed hitman Joel Escorial as middlemen.
Marisa, the sister of Jun Globa Villamor (a person deprived of liberty at the New Bilibid Prison who died on October 18), is also with the NBI and under the DOJ's Witness Protection Program.
Foul play is suspected in the death of Jun Villamor, which occurred on the same day Escorial confessed to the killing.
