10 killed in bus collision on SCTEX

Ten people, including four children on their way to a religious youth camp, died in a severe road accident on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).

The collision occurred near the SCTEX exit toll plaza when a speeding bus driven by a reportedly sleepy driver rammed into four cars.

One of the vehicles, a Nissan Urvan carrying children and adult guardians, was crushed from 15 feet to just three feet due to the impact.

The driver of the bus was the sole survivor among those in the Urvan and sustained injuries.

Another victim was a couple traveling with their two-year-old toddler to Baguio; the child, however, survived and was taken to Bulacan with relatives.

The bodies of the deceased were so compacted that identification was difficult and relied on the bus driver.

Authorities have transferred the victims' remains to a funeral parlor.
