SUV crashes into NAIA Terminal 1, kills two including child

A black Ford Everest SUV crashed into the departure area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Sunday morning, May 4, killing two people, including a five-year-old girl, and injuring four others.

The driver, Leo Sinlao Gonzales, 47, claimed a sedan cut him off, causing him to mistakenly accelerate.

However, CCTV footage did not show the sedan Gonzales blamed for the incident.

Three of the injured, including Cynthia Masunson, 34, and her daughter Sophia, 4, were taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay.

The fatalities were identified as the five-year-old girl and Dearick Keo Faustino, 28.

Gonzales, a hardware delivery driver from Batangas, is in police custody and being investigated.
