ZUS Coffee beats Petro Gazz 3-0 in All-Filipino quarterfinals

ZUS Coffee secured a surprising 3-0 victory over Petro Gazz in their All-Filipino quarterfinals Game 1 at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday, March 18.

Jovelyn Gonzaga, ZUS Coffee's leader, expressed her belief that this team had the potential to achieve great things after the win, which ended Petro Gazz's 10-game winning streak and put them within reach of their first semifinals appearance.

Five ZUS Coffee players scored in double digits, with Chai Troncoso leading the team with 14 points and Clo Mondoñedo contributing 19 excellent sets; Thea Gagate and Jovelyn Gonzaga each added 11 points while Mich Gamit and Chinnie Arroyo contributed 10 points.

In a closely contested match, Myla Pablo's block touch call tied the third set at 25-all, setting up Jovelyn Gonzaga for the winning block that sealed ZUS Coffee's victory.

Defending champion Creamline also advanced in their quarterfinals bid by defeating Chery Tiggo with a 3-0 sweep, led by Alyssa Valdez's impressive performance of 16 points and 20 excellent sets from Kyle Negrito; it marked coach Sherwin Meneses' 100th victory in the PVL.
