Zubiri demands committee seats for 'Solid 6' senators

Senator Juan Miguel 'Migz' Zubiri and his 'Solid 6' allies are demanding proportional representation within Senate committees after Zubiri was replaced as Senate president in May.

Zubiri stated during a Senate session that despite being ex-officio members, he, Loren Legarda, Joel Villanueva, and three others do not have committee memberships due to their previous leadership roles.

The group is seeking reinstatement of their committee memberships to address the pending workload and ensure timely approval of legislative reports.

Former chairmen like Zubiri are still holding onto some vice chairmanships, and the Senate is set to fill these vacancies during a caucus.

Upon Escudero's assumption as Senate president in May, several leadership positions were reassigned, including Jinggoy Estrada as Senate president pro tempore and Francis Tolentino as majority leader.

The Senate restored JV Ejercito to his post of deputy majority leader and elected Bong Go to Sonny Angara's former chairmanship of the Committee on Youth.
