Authorities arrest two drug suspects, seize PHP6.8M worth of shabu each

On Sunday night and Monday evening, authorities arrested two drug suspects in separate operations, confiscating PHP6.8 million worth of suspected shabu each time.

Col. Santiago Pascual, deputy regional director for operations at Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9), confirmed that a 59-year-old militiaman from Basilan was apprehended on P. Reyes Street in Barangay Zone 2, Zamboanga City around 11:04 p.m.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Helen Galvez, information officer of PRO-9, reported that another suspect, a 50-year-old resident of Barangay Arena Blanco in Zamboanga City, was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay at around 7:25 p.m.

During both operations, one kilogram of shabu was seized along with the buy-bust money and mobile phones from each suspect.

The suspects are currently detained as authorities prepare charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Additionally, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced that 10 barangays in Isabela City, Basilan were recently declared drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC).
