Western Visayas administers half million COVID-19 vaccines in vax blitz

Western Visayas administered over half a million COVID-19 vaccines during the three-day Bayanihan Bakunahan vax drive, which ran from November 29 to December 1.

As of December 2, DOH-Western Visayas reported that 501,106 people received their first dose, 79,979 got their second dose, and 11,256 received booster shots.

Negros Occidental had the highest number of vaccinees with 213,291, followed by Iloilo province (134,500), Bacolod City (70,752), Capiz (51,699), Antique (51,150), Aklan (29,459), Iloilo City (21,208), and Guimaras (20,282).

Negros Occidental and Antique exceeded their targets during the first two days of the drive.

The initial target set by DOH-Western Visayas on November 22 was to administer 791,034 doses over three days with daily targets of 263,678. However, some provinces and cities found these targets too ambitious.
