Vice Pres Sara Duterte calls for cases against Pres Marcos Jr over ICC arrest

Vice President Sara Duterte called for the filing of cases against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., alleging that he allowed her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, to be arrested and transferred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) on March 11.

During an interview in Kidapawan City, Cotabato, Vice President Duterte emphasized that without President Marcos Jr.'s approval, Rodrigo Duterte would not have been arrested and transferred to a foreign jurisdiction, implying an impeachable offense and betrayal of public trust.

Malacañang dismissed Vice President Duterte's call as 'baseless', stating that the government followed legal procedures and acted in cooperation with Interpol.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said that former President Duterte is considered a suspect in crimes against humanity, particularly murder, filed by fellow Filipinos who were victims of extrajudicial killings under his war on drugs.

The Ombudsman has ordered Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, Philippine National Police chief Rommel Marbil, and two others to answer allegations uncovered in a Senate panel report submitted by Senator Imee Marcos.
