VP Sara doubts HRO considers Marcos impeachment

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed doubt Saturday that the House of Representatives will seriously consider an expected impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., citing the body’s history with her own impeachment.

Duterte Youth chairman Ronald Cardema and his wife Marie intended to file the complaint after the elections but failed to do so on Thursday, May 8, as the Office of the House Secretary General was closed.

Vice President Duterte said she has no knowledge of the plan to file an impeachment complaint against Marcos Jr. and reiterated that most House members are allies of the president.

She also stated that she hasn't read the Articles of Impeachment, which include allegations of betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Constitution related to former President Rodrigo Duterte's arrest based on an ICC warrant.

The Office of the Secretary General confirmed they were closed due to a strategic planning seminar but will resume work on May 13.
