VP Sara: Drug case against Duterte family politically motivated

Vice President Sara Duterte described the allegations against her husband Mans Carpio and brother Rep. Paolo Duterte over a P6-billion drug case as politically motivated harassment on Saturday.

Duterte stated during an ambush interview in Davao City that these controversies are part of broader political attacks aimed at her and those close to her, urging lawmakers to focus on pressing issues like poverty and inflation.

Former Customs Intelligence officer Jimmy Guban testified before House committees the previous day, alleging involvement of Duterte, Carpio, Michael Yang, and others in a drug shipment seized in 2018.

Paolo Duterte dismissed Guban's claims as baseless in a statement.

The Vice President said she will let her husband address the allegations himself while expressing concern that these political attacks may distract from addressing real problems facing Filipinos.

Duterte also hinted at the possibility of an impeachment case being filed against her, emphasizing the importance of not letting citizens be swayed by political noise.
