Villanueva investigates ghost flood control projects in Bulacan

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva is investigating reports of ghost or non-existent flood control projects in his home province of Bulacan.

Villanueva expressed surprise when President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. mentioned 5,500 completed flood control projects during the State of the Nation Address in 2024, noting a lack of improvement in Bulacan.

He welcomed Senator Panfilo Lacson's investigation into systemic corruption and ghost projects, emphasizing the need to address residents' concerns and hold accountable those responsible for failed projects.

Villanueva highlighted that similar patterns of funding allocation persist in the 2025 budget, indicating ongoing issues with transparency and accountability.

The senator condemned the supposed corruption Lacson revealed, stating it made his blood boil and had been an issue he has raised for three years.
