Philippines sets new record with 472,356 daily jabs

The Philippines administered a record 472,356 COVID-19 vaccine doses on July 22, surpassing the previous high of 375,059 set on July 13.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire emphasized the need to increase vaccination rates among senior citizens and those with comorbidities due to the threat of the Delta variant.

As of July 23, the country has received a total of 30.985 million vaccine doses from six manufacturers since February.

An additional one million Sinovac doses arrived on Friday morning, bringing the total number of vaccines to nearly 31 million.

The government expects an estimated seven million more doses to arrive by the end of August.

NTF chief Carlito Galvez assured that there is ample vaccine supply until August and they are working on securing supplies for September.
