Van Sickle named PVL MVP, ends Creamline's reign

Brooke Van Sickle of Petro Gazz has been named the first-ever Season Most Valuable Player at the inaugural Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night on May 28.

Van Sickle helped Petro Gazz defeat Creamline to win the 16-team All-Filipino Conference title, ending Creamline's four-year reign and earning her MVP honors with a weighted score of 227.6 points.

The 27-year-old outside hitter topped the voting by finishing third in scoring and leading the league in service winners with an average of 0.38 aces per set.

Despite Petro Gazz missing out on some tournaments earlier in the year, Van Sickle led her team to victory in the All-Filipino Conference, showcasing her reliability both offensively and defensively.

Thea Gagate of ZUS Coffee was named Rookie of the Year, while The Mythical Team included Van Sickle and Creamline's Bernadeth Pons (Best Outside Spikers), PLDT's Majoy Baron and Creamline's Bea de Leon (Best Middle Blockers), Galeries' Alyssa Eroa (Best Libero), Cignal's Gel Cayuna (Best Setter), and Farm Fresh's Trisha Tubu (Best Opposite Spiker).
