Vp Sara Duterte stays friendly with Pres Marcos post-Education Sec resignation

Vice President Sara Duterte stated that she remains friendly with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., despite her recent resignation from his Cabinet.

During an interview on Tuesday, Duterte told Cagayan de Oro reporters that she believes their friendship is intact following her exit as Education Secretary.

Duterte emphasized that her decision to resign was driven by her 'true concern' for teachers and students in the Department of Education (DepEd).

She expressed sadness over leaving DepEd, where she enjoyed interacting with students and teachers.

Duterte said she is eager to know who Marcos will pick as her successor, noting that his appointment has almost a month before her resignation takes effect on July 19, 2024.

Teachers' groups urged Marcos to choose a 'non-political' figure to head DepEd.
