UST wins both boys' and junior 3x3 basketball matches in UAAP Season 87 opener

On Monday, University of Santo Tomas (UST) secured victories for both its Tiger Cubs and Junior Tiger Cubs teams on the first day of the UAAP Season 87 3x3 basketball tournament held at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.

In the boys' division, UST's team comprising Carl Manding, Koji Buenaflor, Charles Bucsit, and Charles Esteban defeated the University of the East Junior Warriors with a score of 19-13, while in the junior high division, the U16 team led by Andwele Cabanero triumphed over UE's 16-and-under squad with a narrow 13-11 victory.

UST players emphasized their readiness for the competition and the importance of teamwork; Cabanero noted that they were well-prepared despite knowing the strength of their opponents.

Other winners in the boys' division included Far Eastern University-Diliman, Adamson University, and National University-Nazareth School, while in the junior high level, NU-Nazareth, UP Integrated School, and Ateneo emerged victorious.

The tournament continues tomorrow with more games scheduled at Ayala Malls Manila Bay.
