UST maintains chess lead, secures runner-up spot

UST maintained its undefeated streak in the UAAP Season 86 Men's Chess Championship with a narrow victory over De La Salle University on Monday.

The win ensures UST will secure at least a runner-up finish, having won six matches and drawn two to accumulate 14 match points.

Ateneo remains second but needs a significant win in Round 9 to challenge UST for the championship.

In Sunday's matches, UST defeated UP with key wins from Melito Ocsan Jr. and Chester Reyes, while FEU secured at least a runner-up finish in the women's division by defeating Adamson University.
