UST's Pagara, Progella win two matches in UAAP beach volleyball

University of Santo Tomas' Sofiah Pagara and Khy Progella secured two comfortable victories on Friday to start their UAAP Season 87 beach volleyball campaign.

Pagara and Progella, last season's top rookies, defeated Far Eastern University's Lovely Lopez and Melody Pons with scores of 21-16 and 21-14, followed by a victory over Ateneo's Liz Lomocso and Grydelle Matibag with scores of 21-17 and 21-13.

National University's Honey Grace Cordero and Kat Epa also won their matches, defeating the University of the Philippines' Euri Eslapor and Julia De Leon, and Adamson University rookies Shai Nitura and Fei Sagaysay with scores of 21-16, 21-14 and 21-17, 21-18 respectively.

Other notable results included Van Bangayan and Krisha Revilla from the University of the East winning against Ateneo's Lomocso and Matibag in a tight match with scores of 21-18, 15-21, 15-11, while Adamson's Nitura and Sagaysay defeated La Salle's Sophia Sindayen and Ela Raagas with scores of 21-6, 21-18.

The tournament continues on Saturday at 10 a.m. with six matches scheduled.
