UST's Mo Tounkara ejected, faces suspension

UST center Mo Tounkara was ejected during a crucial moment in UST's loss to La Salle in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday.

Tounkara received his second technical foul for taunting Mike Phillips with 3:38 left in the fourth quarter, leading to overtime and ultimately resulting in a 94-87 loss at Mall of Asia Arena.

Despite missing crucial moments due to his ejection and now facing a one-game suspension against Ateneo on Saturday, Tounkara remains optimistic about securing a spot in the Final Four with a home win over the Blue Eagles.

UST's appeal for overturning Tounkara’s ejection has been denied; however, the university is planning to make a final appeal to keep him eligible for individual awards this season.

Tounkara, who averages 15.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, admitted that emotions got the better of him during the loss and vowed to control himself in future games.
