UP wins FilOil Preseason Cup for second year

The University of the Philippines (UP) secured its second consecutive championship in the FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup by defeating De La Salle University (DLSU), 69-66, on Wednesday evening in San Juan City.

Gerry Abadiano led UP to victory with 12 points and was named Finals MVP, while JD Cagulangan contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

UP coach Francis Lopez emphasized that the preseason championship is just a stepping stone as their main objective remains reclaiming the UAAP crown.

The team's focus on consistency and improvement was highlighted by their second-half comeback from a significant halftime deficit, scoring 46 points in the final two quarters.

With eyes set on another UAAP title, UP has already planned training camps in Serbia and South Korea to further hone their skills before the next season.
