UP Maroons lose UAAP finals to La Salle

The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons lost Game 3 to De La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP Season 86 men's basketball tournament, securing a runner-up finish for the second consecutive year.

Kevin Quiambao led the Green Archers to victory, ending their seven-year title drought while UP struggled with poor shooting and costly mistakes from Francis Lopez in the final minutes of the game.

Head coach Goldwin Monteverde praised graduating players CJ Cansino and Malick Diouf for their talent and leadership but acknowledged the difficulty of replacing Diouf, who was named Mythical Five member and finished fourth in scoring points.

Monteverde also reflected on missed opportunities during Game 3 when UP failed to capitalize on open shots, leading to their defeat despite a strong defense.
