Typhoon Odette causes P1.12B damage to electric coops in Visayas, Mindanao

Typhoon Odette caused at least P1.12 billion worth of damage to electric cooperatives in Visayas and Mindanao as of December 23, tripling the initial estimate of P300 million reported on December 21.

The National Electrification Administration (NEA) stated that 74 cooperatives have reported damages affecting over 3.65 million households.

As of late Wednesday, NEA needs to restore power to 236 out of 936 municipalities in Visayas and Mindanao.

National Power Corp. (NPC) also reported P19.34 million worth of damage to power plants, with major damages amounting to P8.45 million and completely destroyed facilities estimated at P10.89 million.
