Typhoon Kristine exits PAR, unlikely to affect PH

Typhoon Kristine (Haishen) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday evening, September 5.

As it exited PAR, Kristine was located 1,080 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon and had maximum winds of 185 km/h with gustiness up to 230 km/h.

PAGASA forecast that the typhoon would maintain its intensity before gradually weakening as it moves closer towards mainland Japan.

On Saturday morning, PAGASA raised a gale warning over the seaboards of Batanes and Cagayan due to rough to very rough seas with waves reaching up to 4.5 meters.

Kristine was last tracked at 1,205 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon on Friday evening with maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
