DOTr reimplements cashless tolls on Luzon expressways starting March 15

Starting March 15, 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will reimplement cashless or contactless toll collection on all major toll expressways in Luzon.

Motorists must have a valid ETC device or RFID sticker installed to use toll lanes; those without one can still enter but may face penalties and receive a Temporary Operator's Permit or Show Cause Order from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) encourages motorists to install RFID stickers before March 15, emphasizing that only around 3% of users still pay in cash.

Toll operators are providing installation services at various locations both inside and outside expressways to assist those who need them.

Vehicles without valid RFIDs will be issued an RFID sticker upon entry but may face penalties for violating the 'No Valid ETC Device, No Entry' policy.

Motorists are reminded that 97% of expressway users already use these systems and are urged to avoid last-minute installations to prevent long lines and delays.
