Transport groups urge Dizon to appoint new PTMP officials

Major transport groups have called on Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon to appoint new officials overseeing the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) in a letter dated March 26.

The groups, including Pasang Masda, Altodap, and ACTO, emphasized the need for experienced officials who can effectively address existing issues within the PTMP.

They proposed implementing the PTMP only on financially viable routes and allowing traditional jeepneys to operate in non-viable areas while displaced operators find alternative routes.

The transport leaders expect to meet Dizon and other government transport officials to further discuss these proposals and ensure the success of the modernization program.

Among their recommendations is financial assistance for operators transitioning to modernized units, which cost over P2 million per unit.
