Masbate's Trangia wins third straight gold in discus throw

Courtney Jewel Trangia of Masbate won her third consecutive gold medal at the Batang Pinoy National Championships in Puerto Princesa on Sunday, throwing 38.30 meters in the girls' under-18 discus throw.

Trangia's achievement sets a new tournament record and falls short of her personal best of 40.19 meters.

The Grade 12 student from Masbate Sports Academy attributes her success to year-round training with coaches Jeric Cabug and John Rey Mendoza, who praised Trangia for her dedication and ability to balance academics and athletics.

Meanwhile, swimmer Anton Paulo Dominick Della broke the record in the boys' Under-16 200-meter individual medley event with a time of 2:15.58, surpassing last year's mark of 2:16.66 set by Peter Cyrus Dean.

The championships, supported by Puerto Princesa City government and Pocari Sweat, saw early standout performances from Trangia and Della.
