Torres re-elected as Ormoc mayor, beats Codilla in local polls

Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Marie Torres-Gomez won a second term in office after securing victory in Monday's local election on May 12.

Torres received 89,123 votes, surpassing her opponent Violy Codilla, who is the wife of former Ormoc mayor Edward Codilla.

Based on partial and unofficial results from all precincts reported by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as of Tuesday, May 13 at 12:46 pm, Torres's win was confirmed.

Leyte province, where Ormoc is located, has around 1.09 million registered voters in the 2025 polls, making it the fourth most populous voting region in the Visayas.

Torres previously served as Leyte’s 4th District representative from 2010 to 2022 and won her first mayoral term under the Duterte-aligned Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

For this election, Torres ran under the Marcos-led Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), while Codilla represented the National Unity Party (NUP).
