Rep Richard Gomez reelected in Leyte 4th district

On Monday, May 12, Leyte 4th District Representative Richard Gomez was reelected to a second term with 171,113 votes, defeating his opponent Vicente Sofronio 'Ching' Veloso based on partial, unofficial results from 99.25% of precincts reported as of Tuesday, May 13 at 12:46 pm.

Previously an actor and mayor of Ormoc City from 2016 to 2022, Gomez secured his position against Veloso, whose daughter is Leyte 3rd District Representative Anna Tuazon-Veloso.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported that Leyte is the fourth most vote-rich province in the Visayas with approximately 1.09 million registered voters.

With 325,491 registered voters in the 4th District as of 2022, Gomez's victory underscores his strong support base within the region.
