Tina Salak named Akari PVL head coach, replaces Taka Minowa

Akari, a Premier Volleyball League (PVL) squad, has named Tina Salak as the new head coach to lead the team for the upcoming season.

Salak replaces Taka Minowa, who stepped down after guiding Akari to its best finish in PVL history with back-to-back podium finishes in the Reinforced Conference and All-Filipino Conference last year.

The team expressed confidence in Salak's leadership, noting her extensive experience as head coach of Far Eastern University’s Lady Tamaraws and her role on the Akari coaching staff since 2024.

Minowa bid farewell to the Chargers on Saturday, emphasizing that he leaves behind a strong foundation for future success and expressing pride in his time working in his wife's home country.

Akari also thanked other departing members including Cath Almazan, Ysa Bakabak, and coaches Rodel Canino, Yuga Hayashi, and Vilet Ponce de Leon.
