Teacher, son arrested over raiding call

A teacher and her adult son in General Santos City were arrested without warrants on Friday night over a Facebook post that urged residents to raid a local gym where food was being stored.

The 55-year-old teacher, Juliet Espinosa, faces charges of inciting sedition for posts criticizing the city government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic and urging people to loot the food supplies.

Her son is charged with disobedience to authority for resisting arrest during his mother’s apprehension.

The posts were considered a continuing crime as they remained active when reported to police.
