BI chief Tangsinco welcomes replacement, thanks president

Former Bureau of Immigration (BI) chief Norman Tangsinco welcomed his replacement on Wednesday and thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for his two-year tenure.

Tangsinco described his leadership period as 'filled with optimism, challenges, and determination,' highlighting efforts to address border control and human trafficking issues.

Despite being relieved from his post last week, Tangsinco emphasized that the BI has made significant strides in implementing reforms despite operating under outdated legislation.

He expressed gratitude towards BI staff, board of commissioners, Justice Department offices, and foreign partners for their support during his tenure.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla designated BI Deputy Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado as officer-in-charge following Tangsinco's termination on Tuesday.
