Suarez vs Navarrete for WBO super-featherweight title on May 10

Charly Suarez, a 36-year-old Filipino boxer and 2016 Olympian, will challenge reigning WBO super-featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete on May 10 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego.

Suarez, who boasts an undefeated record of 18-0 with 10 knockouts, sees this as a chance to win his first world title after missing out on Olympic gold.

Navarrete, a three-time world champion from Mexico with a record of 39-2-1 and 32 knockouts, is eager for the fight, motivated by his previous loss at the Pechanga Arena in 2020 and recent knockout victory over former world champion Oscar Valdez.

Chavit Singson, Suarez's backer and former Ilocos Sur governor, facilitated negotiations with Top Rank chief Bob Arum to make this world title bid possible.

Navarrete is also known for his victories over Filipino boxers Mig Elorde and Jeo Santisima in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
