Strong Group beats Qatar 81-54 in William Jones Cup

Strong Group Athletics secured an 81-54 victory over Qatar in the 44th William Jones Cup on Tuesday night at Xinzhuang Gymnasium.

The win improved their record to 3-0, maintaining their position alongside unbeaten Bahrain (4-0), and extending a streak of 11 consecutive wins since last year's title run.

DJ Fenner and Javi Gomez de Liano led the team with 18 points each; Fenner contributed seven rebounds and one assist early in the game to establish a significant lead.

Head coach Charles Tiu praised the defensive effort, noting that they held another team below 60 points for a second straight game, emphasizing that defense is key to winning championships.

Despite the win, Coach Tiu expressed concerns about his squad's health due to injuries and illness; Kiefer Ravena is expected to join them on Wednesday as Strong Group prepares to face Australia at 5 p.m.
