SMC starts testing 70,000 workers for COVID-19

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has started testing its employees for COVID-19 as part of a plan to safely reopen workplaces and continue providing essential services.

The company is prioritizing security and maintenance staff in the initial phase of testing, with construction of an in-house testing lab 60% complete.

SMC plans to test all 70,000 employees in phases using RT-PCR tests, considered the gold standard for diagnosing COVID-19 infection.

The company will also strictly enforce safety measures such as physical distancing, protective equipment use, frequent hand washing, and temperature checks.
