SLEX expands, adding six lanes to reduce congestion

The South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) will expand by adding six lanes in both northbound and southbound directions, with motorists set to access these new lanes from Susana Heights in Muntinlupa up to Calamba, Laguna starting in the third week of December.

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) chairman Ramon Ang announced on Tuesday that the project is progressing well and will be completed next month, emphasizing the significant effort and investment involved.

The expansion covers a 29-kilometer stretch from Susana Heights to Calamba and includes the installation of automatic license plate reading cameras at toll plazas to reduce congestion.

Ang expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that motorists will soon experience faster trips between Metro Manila and Calabarzon, while also highlighting improvements in traffic flow due to the decommissioning of two toll plazas in Calamba and Greenfield for future expansion plans.

The full project is expected to be completed by July 2025, with additional construction planned on the section from Calamba to Sto. Tomas, Batangas, including the expansion of 20 bridges connecting to the main lanes of the SLEX.
