Singapore PM eyes increased investment, new collaborations with Philippines

Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong expressed interest in increasing investment in the Philippines during a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. at Malacañang Palace on Wednesday.

Wong highlighted that Singapore businesses are confident in the Philippine economy and have become one of the largest foreign investors in the country, noting the sustained growth momentum in the Philippines.

Singapore is also keen to explore collaboration with the Philippines in new areas such as the green economy and sustainability.

Marcos noted that bilateral relations between the two nations have thrived over the past 56 years and expressed gratitude for Singapore's partnership.

The Philippine president emphasized the importance of sectors like health, humanitarian assistance, renewable energy, and environmental protection during their discussions.

Wong welcomed the presence of Philippine firms in Singapore and stressed the potential to do even more together in emerging areas.
