Sinas urges PNP to uphold law despite mañanita controversy

Newly appointed PNP chief Police Major General Debold Sinas urged policemen to uphold the law during his assumption speech on Tuesday.

Sinas previously faced online outrage for allowing a birthday celebration, or 'mañanita,' in May when Metro Manila was under enhanced community quarantine.

Despite his new position, Malacañang stated that Sinas is not exempt from liability and faces criminal charges over the mañanita incident.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that laws do not absolve Sinas of responsibility.

President Rodrigo Duterte defended Sinas, saying it was not his fault that subordinates celebrated his birthday.
