Silliman University suspends face-to-face classes due to coronavirus threat

Silliman University in Dumaguete City has suspended face-to-face classes for preschool to senior high school students due to the novel coronavirus threat.

The university will adopt an alternative learning scheme starting February 5, where academic activities and assessment will continue at home based on a provided learning plan.

Teachers will still observe duty hours to entertain queries from parents, conduct parent conferences, compute grades, and prepare materials during this period.

Regular classes for tertiary and graduate levels will continue until further notice, but students are advised to take precautionary measures.

The university has also postponed Faculty and Staff Day, University Honors Day, and cancelled extracurricular programs including College Week activities for the month of February.
