Shear line causes flooding, landslides in Davao Region, CARAGA; 7 dead, over 270K affected

As of Friday, over 270,206 people or 70,862 families across Davao Region and CARAGA have been affected by flooding incidents and landslides caused by a shear line.

Seven fatalities and two injuries were confirmed by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), with almost 15,000 individuals staying in evacuation centers and 21,870 seeking shelter elsewhere.

Government assistance totaling P6.5 million has been provided to help evacuees and affected families as floodwaters continue to rise and evacuation operations are ongoing.

Classes and work remain suspended in multiple areas while the OCD continues to verify reports of casualties and damage.

Eleven roads are non-passable, and five areas experienced power interruptions due to the effects of the shear line.

PAGASA advises residents of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
