Sharon Garin named DOE chief, Dave Gomez new commo sec

On Thursday, Malacañang announced Sharon Garin as the new secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) and Dave Gomez as the new communications secretary.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro revealed that Garin is a lawyer and CPA with extensive experience in public service, while Dave Gomez has been a senior reporter for The Philippine STAR among other roles.

Garin previously served as an Iloilo representative for multiple terms and as DOE undersecretary, bringing significant expertise in energy policy and legislation to her new role.

She replaces Raphael Lotilla, who was appointed as the head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) after his predecessor Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga submitted a courtesy resignation in May.

These changes came after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. asked all Cabinet members to submit courtesy resignations.
