Marcos swears in Sharon Garin as DOEnergy sec

On Monday, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. swore in Sharon Garin as the new secretary of the Department of Energy.

Garin has been serving as officer-in-charge at DOE since May 2025 and replaces Raphael Lotilla who was appointed to a different position.

In her statement, Garin pledged to continue with reforms initiated by her predecessor, including the Green Energy Auction program.

She emphasized the acceleration of renewable energy development, expansion of electrification efforts, enhancement of energy resiliency, and strengthening of investment climate.

President Marcos expressed confidence in Garin's ability to help achieve the goal of providing every Filipino family with more reliable, affordable, and clean energy under the Bagong Pilipinas initiative.

Prior to this role, Garin served as an undersecretary at DOE from 2022 and previously represented AAMBIS-Owa Partylist in the House of Representatives.
