Sen Zubiri donates 30T rice to storm-hit Bicol

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri donated 600 sacks of rice, totaling 30,000 kilos, to support communities affected by Severe Tropical Storm 'Kristine' in Albay and Camarines Sur on Thursday, November 7.

Zubiri personally delivered 200 sacks of rice to the provincial government of Albay and another 150 sacks to the municipal government of Libon during a visit.

The senator emphasized his commitment to long-term solutions for recurring flood problems in Bicol through infrastructure development and effective flood control projects, aligning with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s plans for the Bicol River Basin project.

Camarines Sur received the remaining 250 sacks of rice to aid affected families and support local livelihoods.

Zubiri highlighted the importance of updated geohazard mapping and flood control projects to enhance disaster preparedness, noting that his donations were from his own pocket and ordered locally in Albay.
