House passes RBH No. 7, ball in Senate's court

On Thursday, House lawmakers stated that passing economic Charter change is now up to the Senate following the passage of Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No. 7 in the House.

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Martin 'Koko' Pimentel III said that the quick approval by the House will not pressure the Senate to speed up its deliberations on RBH No. 6, emphasizing the independence of both chambers.

Despite previous rumors of a plot to remove Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri from office, senators have recently signed a resolution supporting his leadership, indicating such concerns may have subsided.

Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong expressed confidence in Zubiri's ability to secure the necessary votes, citing his strategies and current position as Senate President.

The Senate plans on finishing hearings and consultations before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s address to Congress in July.
