Senate files Manifestation Ad Cautelam on VP Sara Duterte's impeachment; House complies with SC order

The Senate responded on Wednesday to a Supreme Court order dated July 8, 2025, requesting details about the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte by filing a Manifestation Ad Cautelam.

In its submission, the Senate stated that it lacks sufficient knowledge or access to specific information requested and noted similar requests being made of the House of Representatives, which has now complied with the Supreme Court order.

The House spokesperson Princess Abante confirmed on Saturday that the House had submitted a pleading online through the Philippine Judiciary Portal in compliance with the SC directive, providing information and documents under oath regarding Duterte's impeachment case.

Abante added that the House stands by its position that all four impeachment complaints were handled in full compliance with the Constitution and emphasized the exclusive authority of the House over internal deliberative functions.

Vice President Duterte will have the opportunity to confront evidence during her impeachment trial before the Senate, where she can defend herself and present evidence.
