Senate considers boosting OVP budget above P733M

The Senate remains undecided about the budget for the Office of the Vice President (OVP) for 2025, but some senators have indicated a willingness to increase funding.

Former Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri told reporters at a Kapihan sa Senado forum that several colleagues support boosting the OVP's budget and are willing to raise it slightly beyond the House-approved amount of P733 million.

The House of Representatives had previously reduced the proposed OVP budget from P2 billion to P733 million for 1025, citing realignment to other government agencies like social welfare and health departments.

Zubiri emphasized that discussions within the Senate suggest there may be an inclination to increase the OVP's budget slightly beyond the House-approved amount of P733 million.

However, Zubiri noted it is premature to confirm any specific outcomes without further deliberations on the Senate floor.
