Former Bamban Mayor Guo appears before Senate but gives evasive answers

Lawyer Stephen David announced that former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo will attend the upcoming Senate hearing on illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), but her testimony may be limited due to ongoing legal cases against her.

David advised his client to tell the truth while ensuring she is aware of her constitutional rights, including protection from self-incrimination.

Guo faces multiple charges such as money laundering and human trafficking, which could constrain her ability to provide full disclosure at the Senate hearing.

On September 9th, Guo appeared before the Senate for nearly six hours but gave evasive answers that frustrated Senator Risa Hontiveros who cited her in contempt.

Despite denying being a Chinese national despite fingerprint evidence and refusing to disclose details of death threats she claims to have received, former Mayor Guo remains at the Philippine National Police's Custodial Center in Quezon City.
