Ejercito calls for daily PNP patrols on Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon Highway

Senator JV Ejercito is calling for Philippine National Police (PNP) officers to patrol the Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon Highway daily due to an increase in accidents.

Ejercito cited dangerous stunts like the 'superman' maneuver, where riders lie prone on their motorcycles while moving, as contributing factors and appealed for a permanent checkpoint in Marilaque.

The senator noted that despite previous efforts such as installing checkpoints and rumble strips, accidents have continued, with one accident occurring daily along the highway in January alone.

Ejercito suggested that regular presence of Highway Patrol Group officers would help improve road safety and urged the PNP and local government units to devise a solution to prevent such incidents.

Motorcycle rider groups and advocates plan a 'Make Marilaque Safe Again' ride on Sunday to draw attention to the issue, while fellow senator Bato dela Rosa echoed Ejercito's call for tighter security along the highway.
