LTO summons motovlogger over fatal stunt crash

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned a motorcycle rider involved in a fatal crash on the Marikina-Rizal-Laguna-Quezon highway after performing a dangerous stunt, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.

A motovlogger's motorcycle crashed into a group of civilians following a 'Superman' maneuver; the surviving driver faces criminal charges and administrative penalties including reckless driving and improper operation of a vehicle.

LTO Chief Vigor Mendoza II personally reviewed the video evidence and ordered a show cause order to be sent to the rider’s residence in Lipa City, Batangas, requiring him to submit a written explanation for the incident.

The Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP HPG) has increased patrol personnel along the highway to enhance safety, while LTO Chief Mendoza warned riders that streets are not suitable for dangerous stunts due to the danger they pose to road users.

The surviving rider will face a hearing and may have their license suspended or revoked if found to be an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
