Angara welcomes HB filing of econ provisions, seeks bicameral alignment

Senator Sonny Angara welcomed the filing of Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No. 7 in the House of Representatives, which mirrors the Senate’s proposed amendments to certain economic provisions of the Constitution.

Angara, who heads the Senate hearings on RBH No. 6, views this as a positive development compared to ongoing verbal disputes between the two chambers.

He emphasized that if the House adopts the Senate version, they need to file their own bill for consistency and to facilitate discussions.

The senator noted that should there be conflicting provisions between the versions, a bicameral conference committee meeting might be necessary.

Angara added that before finalizing their amendments in the Senate, they will consult with the House informally to ensure alignment and expedite the process.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the Senate to spearhead discussions on proposed amendments focusing on public services, advertising, and education.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri disclosed that Marcos instructed the upper chamber to pass the final version of RBH No. 6, with the House expected to adopt the measure's Senate version.
