200+ House members sign impeachment complaint against VP Sara Duterte

More than 200 members of the House of Representatives signed a new impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday.

The complaint cites seven major allegations including conspiracy to assassinate President Marcos and his family, malversation of funds, bribery and corruption in DepEd, unexplained wealth, involvement in extrajudicial killings, destabilization, insurrection, public disorder, and the totality of her conduct as vice president.

Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva said any impeachment complaint that reaches the Senate will face a lengthy process before trial can begin.

Villanueva emphasized the need for the Senate to focus on its daily agenda rather than anticipating impeachment proceedings, noting that such processes are part of the rules and require thorough deliberation.

The Senate's Rules on Impeachment Proceedings stipulate that the chamber must continue in session until a final judgment is rendered, with senators required to observe political neutrality during trials.
