VP Sara Duterte confident in impeachment case, dismisses political maneuver claims

Vice President Sara Duterte expressed confidence in winning her impeachment case during a visit to Cebu City on Tuesday, where she met with her legal team upon returning from The Hague.

Duterte said her lawyers are 'more than confident' about the trial's outcome and reiterated that the proceedings will begin in July after the May elections.

She dismissed claims from lawmakers that her endorsement of Senate candidates was a political maneuver intended to influence the impeachment trial.

Sara Duterte also defended her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, saying his arrest by the ICC was an 'extraordinary rendition' and criticized the injustice done to him.

The Vice President is set to face the Senate's impeachment trial this July on grounds including misuse of government funds, incitement to insurrection, and other impeachable offenses.
